Soul Consciousness Lab®

Ethical Standards

Version 1.0  ·  August 2026

This work asks people to open something private. Whether someone comes to us as a student or a client, they are trusting us with material that matters to them — grief, memory, meaning, and sometimes fear.

That trust is the whole basis of this profession, and it is easily abused. We publish these standards so that anyone considering training or a session can see exactly what we hold ourselves to, and hold us to it.

Part One sets out the standards Soul Consciousness Lab® operates by. Part Two sets out the code every certified graduate undertakes to follow.

Part One

How We Operate

01

What We Are, and What We Are Not

Soul Consciousness Lab® is a professional training institute and a private practice working in consciousness-based methods. We are not a healthcare provider, and we do not operate a clinical service.

Our programmes are educational. Our sessions are offered as complementary support for meaning, reflection, ritual and personal exploration. Neither constitutes medical or psychological treatment, diagnosis, or a substitute for qualified care.

We say this plainly rather than in small print, because a person deciding whether to spend their money and their time with us deserves to know precisely what they are choosing.

02

Scope of Practice

We work within clearly defined limits, and we say so when something falls outside them.

We do not treat physical illness. We do not diagnose. We do not manage psychiatric conditions. We do not advise anyone to stop, reduce or replace medical or psychiatric treatment, and we will not support a request to do so.

Where someone's needs sit outside what we can responsibly offer, we say so and refer. Declining work that we are not the right people to do is not a failure of service — it is the service.

03

Safety and Screening

Not every person is right for this work at every point in their life, and depth is not always what someone needs.

We ask about health and circumstances before training or a session, and we take those answers seriously. Where someone is in acute crisis, experiencing psychosis or mania, at risk of self-harm, or affected by substances, we do not proceed. We help them find appropriate support instead, and the door stays open for later.

We do not reinforce frightening interpretations of a person's experience. Where someone arrives convinced that something has been done to them, we work with what they are experiencing without confirming claims we cannot know to be true.

04

How We Describe Our Work

We describe practices. We do not promise outcomes.

This is the rule governing everything we publish. We can tell you what a practice is, where it comes from, what happens in a session or a training room, and what participants have described afterwards. We cannot tell you what it will do for you, and we will not pretend otherwise.

We do not claim cures. We do not guarantee experiences. We do not present traditional understanding as scientific fact, or scientific findings as more settled than they are. Where evidence exists we cite it; where it is limited, we say that too.

Our advertising carries the same standard as our teaching. Seat numbers, dates, deadlines and figures we publish are the real ones.

05

Consent

Nobody is worked on without understanding and agreeing to what is proposed. Consent is asked for, not assumed, and it can be withdrawn at any moment without explanation or consequence.

In a training room, no participant is required to disclose personal material, take part in any exercise, or go further than they wish to. Stopping is always available and is never treated as a failure.

06

Confidentiality

What is shared with us stays with us. What is shared in a training circle stays in the circle.

We do not identify clients or participants, publish their material, or use their experiences as illustration without explicit permission asked for separately and freely given. Testimonials are shared only where the person has agreed to that specific use.

The exception is where there is a serious risk to someone's life or safety. We would rather say this openly than imply an absolute we could not honour.

07

No Substances

No psychoactive substances are used, supplied, recommended or facilitated in any programme or session we offer. This applies to plant medicines and to every other category.

In our shamanic work we use the drum and the rattle. This is not a compromise or a legal workaround — it is how a great many traditional cultures have always worked, and it keeps the practitioner in control of a state they enter deliberately and leave deliberately.

08

Cultural Respect

Much of what we teach comes from living traditions belonging to Indigenous peoples. We hold that with care.

  • We do not claim ownership of any lineage, ceremony or sacred teaching.
  • We name traditions and their origins rather than presenting practices as universal or as ours.
  • We do not reproduce knowledge that a community holds as restricted.
  • We acknowledge the history of suppression and loss that many of these traditions have survived, rather than presenting them as timeless and untroubled.
  • We do not romanticise, exoticise, or trade on the aesthetics of cultures we are guests within.

Where we get this wrong, we would rather be told and correct it than defend it.

09

How We Teach

Cohorts stay small because supervision is not possible at scale. Practice is supervised. Assessment is honest, and certification is withheld where the standard has not been met — a certificate that everyone receives is worth nothing to the people who earned it.

We do not overstate what a level qualifies someone to do. We are explicit about where each stage of training ends and what it does not authorise.

We teach the limits of the work alongside the work itself. A practitioner who cannot recognise when to refer has not been properly trained, whatever their certificate says.

10

Commercial Conduct

We do not use pressure, manufactured scarcity or fear to sell training or sessions. Fees are stated openly, including what is and is not included. Terms are published before payment, not disclosed afterwards.

We do not create dependency. The purpose of both our training and our sessions is that a person leaves more capable and more self-sufficient than they arrived — not more reliant on us.

Part Two

Code of Ethics for Certified Practitioners

Every graduate undertakes to practise in accordance with this code.

Certification by Soul Consciousness Lab® records completed training. It is not a licence, and it does not make anyone answerable to a statutory body — because in most of the fields we teach, no such body exists.

This code is what stands in that place. It is the undertaking each graduate gives, and the standard against which we will act if a graduate's conduct is brought to us.

1

Work only within your training

Offer only what you have been trained and certified to offer, at the level you have reached. Do not present yourself as qualified in methods you have not completed.

2

Never replace medical or psychiatric care

Position your work as complementary. Never advise a client to stop, delay or reduce treatment. Where a client is unwell, encourage qualified care rather than substituting for it.

3

Screen, and know when to decline

Assess suitability before working. Decline or defer where someone is in crisis, at risk, or where their needs sit outside your competence. Refer, and say clearly why.

4

Obtain informed consent

Explain what you propose and why before beginning. Confirm agreement. Stop the moment a client wishes to stop, without persuasion.

5

Make no claims you cannot support

Describe what you do, not what it will achieve. Do not promise cures, guaranteed outcomes or specific results, in sessions or in advertising.

6

Hold confidentiality

Protect everything a client shares. Seek explicit permission before using any account or testimonial. Anonymity is not consent.

7

Maintain clear boundaries

No romantic or sexual conduct with a client. No financial entanglement. No exploitation of the trust or vulnerability this work creates.

8

Do not induce fear or dependency

Never tell a client they are cursed, possessed, or in spiritual danger in order to secure further work. Never structure your practice so that a client cannot leave.

9

Use no substances

Do not use, supply, recommend or facilitate psychoactive substances in connection with your practice.

10

Respect the traditions you practise within

Name your sources. Do not claim lineage you do not hold. Do not sell or reproduce knowledge held as restricted by the communities it belongs to.

11

Represent your credentials accurately

State what you completed and who certified it. Do not describe yourself as accredited, licensed or registered by a body that has not accredited you.

12

Keep practising, and keep being supervised

Maintain your own practice and integration. Bring difficult cases to supervision or peer consultation rather than carrying them alone.

Raising a Concern

A code that carries no consequence is decoration. If you believe Soul Consciousness Lab®, a trainer, or a certified graduate has acted contrary to these standards, please tell us.

Write to rashhisharma.plr@gmail.com with what happened. We acknowledge every concern within seven days, look into it properly, and tell you what we found.

Where a graduate is found to have acted in serious breach, we withdraw certification and any associated affiliation, and notify the relevant certifying bodies. Where we ourselves have fallen short, we will say so and put it right.

These standards are reviewed annually and whenever experience shows they need to be clearer.
